Specialist note

Born on 18 September 1857, George FitzRoy Henry Somerset, later 3rd Baron Raglan, was the son of the 2nd Baron Raglan, and his wife Lady Georgiana Lygon, third daughter of Henry Lygon, 4th Earl Beauchamp. King George V of Hanover was his godfather, and he became a Page of Honour to Queen Victoria in 1868, which he remained until 1874. On 28 February 1883, he married Lady Ethel Jemima Ponsonby, daughter of Rev. Walter William Brabazon Ponsonby, 7th Earl of Bessborough and Lady Louisa Cornwallis Eliot. They had six children.
