Specialist note

This photograph depicts a wire model that is intended to ‘visualize a mathematical object of extreme symmetry' (Man Ray Human Equations, p. 96). In Man Ray’s painting Antony and Cleopatra, the model serves as the tumultuous relationship between the two protagonists of that play.
