Specialist note
Known for his versatility on stage and on film, Arthur Kennedy was a five-time Academy Award nominee and won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor for his work in the 1955 film Trial. Some of his most memorable performances include Biff in Elia Kazan's production of Arthur Miller's Death of a Salesman for which he won the 1949 Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play, and Jackson Bentley in the 1962 film, Lawrence of Arabia. In the early 1960s, Kennedy commissioned a number of pieces of furniture from George Nakashima, whom he had long admired. The following four lots are from that commission.
