This monthly periodical played an important part in the creation of japonism, publishing articles about Japanese arts, and diffusing reproduction of prints. Founded by the gallerist Siegfried Bing (1838 – 1905), the periodical was published in French, German and English, and influenced European and American artists. This copy used to be Frederick York’s copy, an English historian and scholar, and is a witness of the preponderance of the periodical among the intellectuals of that time.

35 issues in 6 in-4 vols (320 x 235 mm). Binding in half-blue cloth with Japanese-inspired paperboard, except for the volume 2 in original hardcover (rubbed headbands and corners, worn hinge in the volume 2).
