Die folgenden Werke (Los Nr. 64 bis 70) stammen aus der ehemaligen Sammlung von Giovanni Giacomettis Sohn, Bruno Giacometti (1907-2012). Giovanni Giacometti interessierte sich für das Medium der Grafik, da sie eine reduzierte und künstlerisch freiere Darstellungsart erlaubte. Durch ihre ausserordentliche Expressivität erweiterten die Holzschnitte das Œuvre des Künstlers. Zudem förderte die Verbreitung der Drucke den Bekannheitsgrad der Ölbilder Giovanni Giacomettis.
WORKS FROM THE COLLECTION OF THE LATE BRUNO GIACOMETTI (1907-2012)
The following pieces (lot no. 64 to 70) are from the erstwhile collection of Giovanni Giacometti’s son, Bruno Giacometti (1907-2012). Giovanni Giacometti was interested in the medium of graphic art for it allowed one to create in a reduced and artistically free manner. The exceptional expressivity of these woodcuts enhances the œuvre of the artist. In addition, these prints helped to bring Giovanni Giacometti’s oil paintings to the attention of a broader public.
