Note du spécialiste

Conceived in 1925, Crest of the Wave was cast both in the present size and as a larger fountain figure. The tabletop-sized work is likely to have been the study size for the larger cast, which was a commission. Frishmuth's favorite model, Desha, posed for the piece.
