Specialist note
According to the Archives of Piaget, the present watch was manufactured in 1969.
It is an early and very well preserved example of the "Esclave" model launched around 1970, distinguished by its unusual shape and the attractive jade dial signed by Cartier.
This distinctive yet rare characteristic is not uncommon for the period; indeed, it wasn’t before 1992 that Piaget opened its own Boutique at Place Vendôme in Paris. Before that, most of the brand’s creations were represented by prestigious houses including Cartier as well as Van Cleef & Arpels and Fred.
Consequently, the dials of such timepieces could feature signatures such as Cartier, Piaget & Cartier or simply Piaget.
A Piaget wristwatch with dial signed Cartier was the property of the famous Jackie Kennedy, faithful client of the house.
