SANTOS
Louis Cartier and Alberto Santos-Dumont’s friendship changed the world of wristwatches. Indeed, in 1904, after Santos-Dumont complained to Cartier about the difficulty for him to check the time whilst flying his plane, Cartier asked his workshop to work on a wristwatch to suit his aviator friend. The Santos-Dumont was created, the first modern wristwatch, with its most striking feature being leather straps.
