Specialist note

Colle relates this commode to another by the Faenza cabinet-maker Guiseppe Bagnara and commissioned by Marcantonio Ricciarelli. He also relates it to a suite of seat furniture grain-painted to imitate burr walnut and with parcel-gilt details supplied to the Palazzo Ferniani, Faenza (E. Colle, Il Mobile Neoclassico, Milan, 2005, p. 160).
