“Quando ho visto le prime opere della minimal americana la mia vocazione era già segnata da molti anni dall’idea di monocromo e di materia che noi giovani avevamo appreso da Burri [...] le sue superfici non erano illusioni, erano materia che diventava forma. È stata l’idea di usare la materia in modo appropriato a far nascere i miei primi cementi armati [...] Il mio progetto era di intendere la geometria in questo modo, un prendere forma di materie nello spazio secondo un pensiero”.
"When I saw the early works of the American minimalist movement, my vocation had already been marked – for many years – by the idea of monochrome and matter that we young people had learned from Burri [...] his surfaces were not illusions, they were matter that became form. It was this concept of using matter appropriately that give birth to my first reinforced concrete works [...] My creative aim was to understand geometry in this way, allowing matter to take shape in a space through a thought ".
