With later central plate within a border of mirror plates and foliate scrolled rocaille, surmounted by a cartouche panel painted with the coat-of-arms of the Altham family, the apron with conforming C-scrolls and central ruffled scrolls, the coat-of-arms probably associated

Specialist note

The coat-of-arms are probably those of Sir William Altham (1736-1818), Mayor of Thetford and son of Peyton Altham (1695-1741) of Mark Hall, Essex who married Mary Beard, daughter of the Governor of Bengal. Sir William Altham was unmarried and died without issue.
