Note du spécialiste

'I started to make the flower paintings in 1989 - the year Max [Maguire's son] was born. His arrival made an enormous difference to me, particularly in terms of notions of mortality and the tenuousness of life. Before this I'd grasped the fact of morality at an intellectual level but not emotionally' (Tim Maguire in conversation with Jonathan Watkins, in L. Murray Cree (ed.), Tim Maguire, Sydney, 2007, pp.74-75)
