TURRECREMATA, Johannes de (1388-1468). Quaestiones Evangeliorum de tempore et de sanctis. – NICOLAUS DE BYARD (fl. c.1300). [Dictionarius pauperum:] Flos theologiae sive Summa de abstinentia. [Basel: Johann Amerbach, not after 28 September 1481].
Rare survival of a chained binding with the original links and hasp pierced through the rear cover. A highly appealing example of medieval library security. The prologue, which first appeared in Greyff's Reutlingen edition, is dated 1480; a copy at Frankfurt am Main has a rubricator's date 28 September 1481. The Flos Theologiae is often attributed in editions to Turrecremata and the two works are also found separately. HC *15714; BMC III 747; Bod-inc T-290; BSB-Ink T-568; Goff T-553.
2 parts in 1 volume, chancery folio (293 x 212mm). With the 2 blanks, initials in red, rubricated (few occasional wormholes, some marginal finger-soiling and waterstaining). Contemporary blindstamped red-dyed doeskin over wooden boards, clasps renewed, contemporary 15-link chain attached to top of rear cover (missing bosses and label on front cover, some wormholes, some wear and early repairs).
