engraving, circa 1540-50, on laid paper, watermark Bell under Initials VD and Cross (not in Briquet), a good impression of this very rare print, with thread margins, trimmed on the platemark in places, in very good condition
Plate 237 x 337 mm., Sheet 239 x 337 mm.

Specialist note

Although no specific drawing by Rosso is known that could have served as a model for Domenico's engraving, it is generally thought to be inspired by drawings which, according to Vasari, Rosso had made in France for a prospected publication of a book on human anatomy.
