'Untitled was painted in 1973 when contemporary art was beginning to challenge the more traditional role of painting with the emergence of new artistic forms, such as performance and conceptual art. Untitled reflects the artistic development of the period and combines various styles in one composition; the large abstract form in the lower left of the composition represents an electric drill, the pink wave pattern above suggests early computer screens and the yellow triangular shapes in the upper right of the painting are a distant echo of Minimalism'. (Robert O'Rorke, 2017).
We are very grateful to the artist for his assistance in cataloguing this work, and lot 79.
