Specialist note

The design of the present suite of three modular tables was presented in the pages of Domus magazine in 1955 and is an example of Gio Ponti’s inclination for experimental use of traditional materials and original forms. The tables were designed to allow for different combinations and use, showing the pragmatic yet playful character of Ponti’s designs. The tables were executed by long-term collaborator of the architect, Giordano Chiesa, responsible for translating into reality many of the greatest example of furniture in Ponti's oeuvre. This lot is sold together with a certificate of expertise from the Gio Ponti Archives.
