Vacheron Constantin. An extremely fine and unique platinum chronograph wristwatch with two-tone silvered dial with black hard enamel baton and Arabic numerals

Since its purchase in this saleroom in 2006, this extremely attractive and exceptionally rare Vacheron Constantin chronograph has been in the same important private collection, safely locked away and unused. It is one of only two examples of the platinum cased reference 92900 chronograph made upon special request in 1990. Both watches are fitted with historic movements dating from 1939, the case of the present watch is numbered 509'768, the second example bears the consecutive case number, 509'769. The latter being fitted with a silvered dial and applied baton and Roman numerals render the two watches unique.

The spectacular two-tone silvered dial features hour markers and scales in raised black hard enamel. The screw back “water-resistant” case, is endowed with the timeless proportions of Vacheron Constantin’s best known chronographs and fitted with the caliber 295 movement, one of the company’s most famous, used in the early part of the production of the legendary reference 4072.

Furthermore preserved in excellent, original overall condition, this attractive and highly exclusive platinum timepiece combines the tremendous appeal of the very best “golden age” vintage chronographs with the functionality of modern-day case making.
