Of reeded cylindrical form, the lid cushion shaped cabochon sapphire thumbpiece opening to reveal the lipstick, the base with engraved initials A.F., French mark,
Signed Cartier Paris and numbered indistinctly O1427

Specialist note

According to her son Sean, Audrey had cherished this elegant Cartier lipstick holder, and the en suite powder compact (Lot 42) since the 1950s. Perhaps a gift from her first husband James Hanson, they accompanied her to ceremonies and soirées throughout the 50s and 60s.
