WAR AND PEACE, 1956/PIERLUIGI PRATURLON (1924-1999)

Pierluigi photographed Audrey in the grounds of her farmhouse outside Rome, which she had rented while filming War and Peace at Cinecitta studios. Audrey was required to ride a horse for the scene in which she first meets Prince Andrei, who would be played by then husband Mel Ferrer. Mel later recalled Audrey had an accident on a horse when she was 11. She broke her collarbone. When we were making War and Peace, I got her to ride again and she got completely over her fear.
