GREGORY PECK
A TYPESCRIPT LETTER
A typescript letter, signed, from Gregory Peck to Audrey Hepburn on 375 North Carolwood Drive headed stationery, dated 27 March, 1989, the one page letter thanking her for hosting the American Film Insitute presentation of his Lifetime Achievement Award You gave it grace and style, and I'm truly grateful. You were just the cat's whiskers - beautiful, gracious, generous and funny. From what I've heard, all of Hollywood is grateful to you for making them look good... As I was sitting on my bottom for nine-tenths of the show, the credit must go chiefly to you. Your lovely combination of regality and razzamataz started the show off on the right foot, and ended it in the same way, finishing ...This letter is a poor expression of my appreciation for what you did. I could go on and on but I'll just say that I'll never forget what you did, and that I love you, signed in black felt pen Yours, Greg

Gregory Peck was honoured with the American Film Institute's 17th annual Life Achievement Award on 9th March, 1989. Audrey, hosting the tribute, praised her old friend as tall, beautiful, gentle, a famous hero, and told the audience how he had generously insisted that she, a then unknown actress, receive co-star billing on Roman Holiday. The black ruffled wrap Audrey wore for the occasion is offered for sale in lot 318.
