Specialist note
The prominent use of yewwood as well the ebony stringing are key indicators that this table may be attributed to the Golden Square firm of Mayhew and Ince, often serving as what might be called a leit-motif in their work (see: The Dictionary of English Furniture Makers 1660-1840, Leeds, 1986, pp. 589-593).
