Specialist note

The Richard Lange "Pour le Mérite", a striking example of A. Lange & Söhne's exclusive timepieces, incorporates a number of fascinating technical details never seen before in a wristwatch. The watch is equipped with a caliber L044.1 which features most notably the going train driven with a chain fusée; a highly sophisticated planetary gearing system which keeps the power to the going train steady even while the watch is being wound.  The watch also features the A. Lange & Söhne’s patented "zero-reset" mechanism which simplifies the synchronization of the watch with a time signal. Every part of the watch is finished by hand and the components of the movement boasts highly decorated hand engravings.

The completion of each of these masterpieces requires several months and results in a production of a limited quantity. Highly popular among A. Lange & Söhne collectors, the model  was produced in a limited edition of 50 examples in platinum and 200 examples cased in pink gold with white enamel dial and an additional 218 examples cased in white gold with black dial.
