DIAL: Ice blue, applied luminous baton and square numerals, three subsidiary dials for 12 hour and 30 minute registers and constant seconds on chestnut brown chapter rings
CASE: Platinum tonneau-shaped water-resistant-type, chestnut brown monobloc Cerachrom ceramic bezel calibrated for 400 units, screw back, two round screw down chronograph buttons in the band, 40 mm. diam.
BRACELET/CLASP: Platinum Rolex Oyster bracelet and deployant clasp, overall length approximately 195 mm.

Introduced at Baselworld in 2013 for the 50th anniversary of the Daytona, this Daytona model in platinum, soon referred to simply as the “Platona” among enthusiasts, represented the first time the iconic chronograph was offered in the most noble of metals. While the reference 116506 was initially received with mixed opinions from collectors, in the intervening years as the watch found its way into the hands of more and more individuals, the sheer heft of the watch on its bracelet combined with the warm chocolate brown bezel and subsidiary dials against the ice blue background has made this model a key part of the collection of many aficionados.
