Specialist note

Nicknamed the Stella dial, Italian for star, due to their radiant reflective qualities created by the lacquered dials of Rolex watches from this series, these pieces were produced in a short period in a wide range of colours from pastel pink to banana yellow, peppermint green to vivid blue.

The dial colour of the present lost is often called “Ferrari red” by collectors due to its likeness to the shade most associated with the world famous automotive manufacturer. The present watch is offered by a collector with a penchant for cars bearing the prancing horse and watches adorned with the coronet, and the dial exhibits all of the desired qualities when searching for a Stella dial.
