Specialist note

En epitome of elegance and Patek Philippe understatement, reference 3998 was in production between 1989 and 2005. It is powered by calibre 310SC up until 1993, and two subsequent evolutions of it: 315/130 up until 1995 and eventually 315/190. It is interesting to note that the present watch features the final evolution 315/190, but was made in 1995. Consequently, this is one of the very first 3998 to feature this calibre.
