Patek Philippe. A fine and unusual 18K pink gold rectangular curved asymetric wristwatch with pink dial

Reference 1401 is among the most elusive Patek Philippe models. It is part of a “trilogy” of models made in 1938 and 1939 only. These three references (1400, 1401 and 1402) share the hooded lugs style, and differ by case design, with reference 1400 presenting a more tapered case construction, while reference 1402 presenting a non-asymmetric design. The short production run means an exceedingly small number of pieces: estimates evaluate the total production of reference 1401 in pink gold at less than 50 examples, of which only three so far are known from the market. Furthermore the present piece is graced by a stunning pink dial – confirmed by the Archive – with the extremely rare Lörtscher signature. A rare occasion for the savvy watch collector to own one of the most unusual and difficult-to-find Patek Philippe references, in one of its most exclusive configurations.
