Specialist note
Built in a highly attractive and slender 18k gold case allied with the reputable 1556 caliber mechanism, the beauty of the present timepiece can be appreciated through its magnificent intact and vibrant green colored ‘Lacquered Stella’ dial.
Originally intended for the Middle East market, the Rolex Day-Date ‘Lacquered Stella’ were produced during the 1970s, identified as timepieces with special Lacquered dials and produced in limited numbers. Highly collectible and rare, these timepieces were crafted with powerful colors and quickly became part of the most collectible Day-Dates.
Created during a period where the watch industry was challenged by the appearance of the Quartz wristwatch, Rolex decided to innovate by creating a series of dials with a multitude of colors. Reflecting the vibrant fashion style of the period, the Day-Date ‘Stella’ can be considered as one of the most playful Rolex timepiece ever produced.
