Specialist note

According to the Archives of OMEGA SA, the present watch was produced in August 1967, and delivered to the United Kingdom.

This “Ed White” Speedmaster features a magnificent and extremely rare sunburst grey metallic dial preserved in incredibly excellent and condition. For collectors of rare Speedmasters, those with grey or blue sunburst metallic dials are among the most unusual and rare watches to find. The dial on this “Ed White” Speedmaster is absolutely charismatic and breathtaking. When you see a Speedmaster like the present watch with such a dial, it becomes nearly impossible to separate your eyes from looking at it or your mind from thinking about it.

These sunburst metallic dials, some of which are more blue and some of which are more grey, such as the present watch, remain shrouded in mystery for OMEGA collectors. Some appear, such as the present example, in the reference 105.003 case without “PROFESSIONAL” printed on them while others have “PROFESSIONAL” and appear in the reference 105.012 and 145.012 cases. In addition, some have “T SWISS MADE T” printed below the 6 o’clock marker, such as on the present example, while others simply have “SWISS MADE” printed in that location.

The present watch is a dream for a collector. Indeed, when assembling the OMEGA Speedmaster 50 thematic auction in 2015, on the wishlist of the Christie’s Watch Department was finding a watch like the present example. We are proud to offer one, particularly in this spectacular condition, today.
