Dans leur ouvrage Tamara Préaud et Marcelle Brunet, Sèvres des origines à nos jours, Paris, 1978, p. 224, n° 300 et 301, mentionnent des services avec ce nouveau type de décoration à fond noir et Chinois or dont le premier fut livré le 6 mai 1791 "A M. de Sémonville Ambassadeur".
