Donated by the artist to the Pamela and Ajay Raju Foundation
The Pamela and Ajay Raju Foundation as seller of the lots 697, 699, 700, 700B and 700C has advised us that they intend to direct the Proceeds of Sale received by them to benefit the Germination Project.
Buyers who purchase a lot at the auction that has been consigned by The Pamela and Ajay Raju Foundation (the “Foundation”) may claim a charitable contribution deduction from the Foundation for the amount paid for the lot that will be paid to the Foundation, but such deduction will be limited to the excess of the purchase price paid for a lot over its fair market value. In accordance with applicable Treasury regulations, Christie’s, as agent for the Foundation, has provided a good faith estimate of the fair market value of each of their lots, which is the mean of the pre-sale estimates relating to that lot. Bidders should consult with their own tax advisors to determine the application of the tax law to their own particular circumstances and whether a charitable contribution deduction is available. While Christie’s will facilitate the buyer to the extent possible, any acknowledgement for a tax deduction will come from the Foundation and the buyer hereby acknowledges and agrees that if such an acknowledgement is desired by the buyer, Christie’s may provide the buyer’s contact information to the Foundation and such provision shall not constitute a breach of confidentiality. Buyers who purchase any lot at the auction other than lots 697, 699, 700, 700B and 700C was consigned by a seller who is not the Foundation and such buyers will not be eligible for any charitable contribution deduction.
IRS Circular 230 disclosure: Any tax advice contained in this communication (including any attachments or enclosures) was not intended or written to be used, and cannot be used, for the purpose of (i) avoiding penalties under the Internal Revenue Code or (ii) promoting, marketing or recommending to another party any transaction or matter addressed in this communication. (The foregoing disclaimer has been affixed pursuant to U.S. Treasury regulations governing tax practitioners.)
