In 2008, 40 years after the introduction of the initial version of its Golden Ellipse collection, Patek Philippe celebrated the 40th birthday of this legendary design with an exclusive limited edition set.

Only 100 of these limited edition sets were created by Patek Philippe and each offered something special for both men and women. This magnificent set includes for men a platinum Golden Ellipse timepiece, Ref 5738, and matching white gold with blue center cufflinks and for women a smaller Golden Ellipse watch, Ref. 3738, with a matching 18k white gold necklace. This stunning necklace which incorporates the unique balance of the Golden Ellipse design has 69 diamonds and 29 blue sapphires.

The Golden Ellipse design was based and named on the golden section, a ratio discovered more than two thousand years ago. This ratio has intrigued artists and philosophers alike and is visually perceived as a perfect balance.
