With Rolex Garantie dated 25-2-89 and stamped by Rome retailer Pelloni, additional Rolex Oysterlock bracelet, additional case back engraved “23 Ottobre 1996”, product literature, calendar card for the years 1987 and 1988, leather wallet, green leather fitted presentation box and outer packaging.
The present watch is a very honest and early example of reference 16520 the first steel Daytona with automatic movement. The highly sought-after R series case identify it as made in 1987. The movement bears serial number 11’772, which is correct for this case number, thus erasing the possibility of a movement/case exchange. In addition, it correctly bears the first series bezel, with graduation to 200 units per hour. This version remained in production for a very short time, before being substituted by a bezel graduated to 400 units per hour.
Furthermore, it is fresh to the market and consigned by the original owner, an Italian lady. In fact, the engraving on the back mentions the date January 24, 1989: one day before the date on the guarantee, indicating a slightly belated, although surely much appreciated, birthday present.
