The service globular, with dragon handles, embossed and chased with chrysanthemums, engraved with initial R, comprising: a teapot with hinged cover, a two handled sugar bowl, and a cream jug, marked underneath

James Linn Rogers (b. 1861), thence by descent.

Specialist note

The initial R refers to James Linn Rodgers, who was appointed Consul-General of the United States at Shanghai from 1905-1907, during the administration of Theodore Roosevelt.
