Note du spécialiste

'A painting only becomes an image once it is liberated from the ideas of the artist. A good image needs nothing more than itself. This is enough for the viewer to see it anew.' (Robert Zandvliet as quoted in: I Owe You the Truth in Painting. Robert Zandvliet 1650-2012, exh, cat., GEM, Museum voor Actuele Kunst, The Hague 2012, p 76)
