Jean-François Fourtou est connu pour son bestiaire étrange et fantasque, plus vrai que nature, qui convoque tout autant des réminiscences de notre propre enfance, que celles de l’artiste qui tend à confondre la frontière entre art et jeu. En contemplant cette belle girafe au cou baissé et au regard rêveur - un des animaux fétiches de l'artiste - on ne peut qu’être submergé par cet univers poétique, légèrement teinté de nostalgie, qui questionne notre perception de la réalité.

Jean-François Fourtou is well-known for creating a strange, larger than life bestiary, that reminds us of our childhood toys and at the same time develops the metaphor of the artist as a big kid. Looking at this beautiful giraffe, one of Fourtou’s fetish animals, elegantly stretching her neck and throwing a dreamy gaze at the viewer, we are immersed into a poetic and slightly nostalgic universe that comes to question our realms of reality.
