After briefly addressing the assembled press with the short statement We are leaving Downing Street for the last time..., Mr. & Mrs. Thatcher then left Downing Street for Buckingham Palace where the Prime Minister formally gave her resignation to HM the Queen. Mrs. Thatcher also wore this suit for her first post Prime Ministerial speech as a back bencher on the subject of the Gulf War.
