" I D EA L W I TH M Y AT T RACT I O N TOWARD UNKNOWN PEOPLE THROUGH ARTWORK BY GIVING OUTWARD OBSERVATION AND INNER ASSUMPTION" - MANIKA NAGARE

Manika Naga reuses colourful shape s in h e r compositions to sketch the strangers she has seen in her surroundings, including those from magazines and television. As a child, she had a strong interests in the "life of strangers" that surrounded her. While we find the celebrities we see in various media fascinating, in reality their lives are unseen. Nagare creates a narrative of the unseen elements in their life using metaphorical combinations of colour to emphasis their imaginational existence. In this series, Nagare paints from models as she creates her works. Her interpretation of the models are hidden in the carefully blended colours. Conscious Lemon (Lot 180) is a masterpiece from her 2010 series Bouncer Manner , Gushing Manner . The title does not necessary correspond to the work; colourful abstract motifs are meant to intuitively speak to the viewers and can be interpreted as whatever they wish to see, parallel to her method of digesting her thought output on canvas.
