Cal. 240/114 automatic movement stamped with the Geneva seal, 27 jewels, silvery opaline-white dial, applied baton numerals, three subsidiary dials for day combined with 24 hour indication, month combined with leap year indication and date combined with moon phases, circular case, stepped bezel, snap on back, platinum Patek Philippe buckle, case, dial and movement signed

Specialist note

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with silvery opaline-white dial and 12 indexes in white gold in 1993 and its subsequent sale on 2 September 1993.

Reference 3940, in production from 1985 until 2006, was available in yellow, pink and white gold and platinum. The rarest version, the platinum models, were delivered with the plain snap on back only whereas the other case versions were available with both solid and glazed display back. Reference 3940 models in platinum were manufactured in smaller quantities compared to other metals. The present lot is in overall very good condition.
