ROLEX. A FINE 18K GOLD AUTOMATIC WRISTWATCH WITH SWEEP CENTRE SECONDS, DAY AND DATE
Lot 2426 Rolex’s reliable Oyster Perpetual Day-Date model was introduced at the Basel Fair in 1956. The model has proved popular ever since and is the line of Rolex timepieces which presents the greatest variability in dial and case decorations. Even within the same reference, a nearly endless plethora of different details can be found including dials set with or without gems; in addition, gem-set pieces are known to have been made with different gems - among which, most notably, diamond, ruby, emerald and sapphire - and a number of different dial setting designs.

For different variations of the Day-Date model, please see Lots 2426 to 2435 in this sale.
