Rectangular, 80 x 62 mm., gilt-metal frame, the frosted surround engraved 'W. Naish. / Mr William Naish'
The back of the frame contains a trade label printed 'Mr Naish, Miniature Painter (Late Student of the Royal Academy,) Informs the Gentry of Bristol and its Vicinity that he takes Likenesses in Miniature from two to five guinea[s] at No. 43, Prince's Str[eet], Bristol. At home [from] ten [t]ill [three o'clock] / Gives out to no One'

In the sale of the Jeffrey Whitehead Cn. at Christie's, Aug. 1915, was a late 18th or early 19th century miniature of a man, at the back of which was the trade card of Mr. Naish, miniature ptr., later a student of the R.A.; he gave a Bristol address and stated that he was seeking the patronage of Bristol and its neighbourhood. This was perhaps William Naish'.
