circular box, the cover, sides and base set with panels of concentric circular reeding stamped at intervals with pellets and stars within vari-colour gold foliate sablé borders, the cover centred with a vari-colour gold rosette

Specialist note

François Chazeray was apprenticed to Charles Peuvrier in 1754. He struck his mark in 1760 and is listed as working at rue de la Fromagerie at la Croix d'or. He later moved to quai des Orfèvres where he remained until 1793.
