signed with a fly (lower right), signed again, inscribed and dated 'We told Grandpa the dreadful news as soon as/we reached Blackpool, that Dear Anne, who/had only been married a month, had left Willie/Mother read aloud the letter she had sent to/her saying that Willie had told her that she/must give up all thoughts of continuing her search/for knowledge and devote her life to Husband,/home and children. "Dear Anne", said Mother,/"please forgive her, she couldn't face such a bleak/future", but Grandpa was very cross and upset/and said that the only thing we could do was to/set off to follow her to London and bring her back/for she must do her duty and the year was 1909/Helen Layfield Bradley 1971.'
