The owner of the Chalet Yu-Lan collection, Madame Li Ai Vee, was a student of Lu Yifei in Shanghai during the 1950s. These paintings, especially Sketchbook of Various Subjects (Lot 1320), recorded the memorable teaching moments of the artist, which have been treasured by his student ever since.
