With deeply curved seat and scrolling anthemion detail to the toprail, the front arm supports and terminals with foliate-clasped detail, raised on swept scroll legs, stamped WB to rear seat rail

Modelled on the ancient Greek Klismos chair with deeply curved back, several variations of Klismos chairs were illustrated in Thomas Hope's 'Household Furniture and Interior Decoration' published in 1807
