The back with slightly raised circular panels and rosettes to the corners, scroll arms and bell-flower carved seat edge with arcaded frieze and tapering swag-hung legs, stamped H.SAMUEL 484 OXFORD ST. LONDON twice and H.SAMUEL on the under-seat cross-strut

Specialist note

Henry Samuel, the Oxford Street dealer (fl.1881 - 1913) regularly name-stamped his stock and seems to have specialised in high quality copies of 18th century furniture.
