Specialist note
The same subject in this newly discovered addition to the oeuvre of Ouwater is treated in an engraving by Hendrik de Winter (1717-1790), which is based on a drawing by Isaac Ouwater from 1780. Apparently Ouwater decided to make a painting of Grosthuizen five years later, possibly in commission.
