She wearing at wide-brimmed bonnet and signed 'Gossin L Paris'; he with bagpipes, both on a rockwork base and on pine square corner pedestals, restorations

The pedestals: 22 ½ in. (57 cm.) high, 17 ¼ in. (44 cm.) square

Specialist note

Louis and Etienne Gossin were brothers working in Paris at the end of the 19th Century. Mainly genre sculptors, their works were exhibited at the Salon from 1877 onwards. They won bronze medals at the Expositions of 1889 and 1900.
