Specialist note

The wilderness is Dylan Lewis’s subject whether expressed through his widely known renderings of big cats or through his explorations of the human form. This current lot draws inspiration from his passion for and study of wild landscapes – of overhanging cliffs and rocky outcrops. Wilderness for Lewis is not simply about reproducing a physical form but is about conveying a deeper meaning relating to ancient beliefs and myths, as well as, the condition of the spirit and soul.
