ADO CHALE (B. 1928)

The sun, the moon and water - such are the primary forces which have become the main source of inspiration of the Belgian designer Ado Chale. Self-taught, he draws inspiration from nature's cycle and created works of art incorporating the substance of nature itself.
Observing the way a drop of water perfectly wrinkles the surface of a lake, Chale created 'Goutte d'eau' (Water drop), a table replicating the ways nature strikes, as the rays of sun tirelessly extend to the edge of its surface. 'Solune' - the combination of 'Soleil' (sun) and 'Lune' (moon), two gilt crescents conjoined to form one - is the embodiment of Chale's recurrent use of nature as a means of creative expression.
