Patrick Tosani’s photographs monumentalize, through positioning, scale and perspective, otherwise overlooked elements of the world around us. In the case of Geographie III, Tosani has turned his camera to the lid of a drum, which has worn through regular use into the pattern which he selects with his camera. Isolating the drum from its context allows Tosani to reconceptualise it and draws the drum into the realm of aesthetic contemplation. Ultimately offering the viewer an alternative imagery for this everyday object.
